May 11, 2016 - International League (IL1)
Syracuse Mets News Release
The Syracuse Chiefs are pleased to announce the 2016 Military Appreciation Day, sponsored by Riccelli-Northern, to take place on Saturday, July 23rd, when the Chiefs take on the Rochester Red Wings at 7:05 p.m. In honor of the event, the Chiefs will hold a Military Jersey Auction at NBT Bank Stadium.
"It's a privilege for the Chiefs to honor our military", said general manager Jason Smorol. "Military Appreciation Day and the Jersey Auction is our way of saying thank you to those who have fought and served and continue to fight and serve for our country."
For $10, fans can submit the name of a loved one who has served in the military to be honored on a commemorative Syracuse Chiefs jersey. Fans can submit the name on a flyer that can be found on the home page of syracusechiefs.com or under the "Community" tab on the website. The first 100 names submitted will be featured on the jersey, and all 100 names will be featured on every jersey. The Chiefs will wear the jerseys on the field during that night's game against the Red Wings.
The jersey auction will take place on the concourse level of NBT Bank Stadium, concluding at the end of the seventh inning. All 35 of the commemorative jerseys will be auctioned off to fans in attendance. Winners of the auction will receive their jersey from a player following the game. You must be present at the game to participate in the auction. The $10 submission fee and proceeds from the auction will be donated to the Clear Path for Veterans Foundation.
On Military Appreciation Day, the first 2,000 fans through the gates will also receive a ticket to the New York State Fair. After the game, all fans can enjoy one of the Chiefs' spectacular Fireworks Friday shows.
Tickets for Military Appreciation Day, as well as all other Chiefs games, can be purchased by calling 474-7833, in person at the NBT Bank Stadium ticket office, or online at syracusechiefs.com.
