Chiefs Sweep Bisons With 4-3 Win

Syracuse, N.Y. - In game two of a short set against the Buffalo Bisons, the Syracuse Chiefs won on Tuesday night 4-3. Chase Lambin had a successful day at the plate for the second straight game with two singles, two doubles and three RBI. Chiefs starting pitcher J.D. Martin threw 6 2/3 innings giving up three runs and striking out three to pick up the win. Tobi Stoner was charged with the loss for Buffalo giving up four runs and seven hits over five innings.

Buffalo started the scoring first by putting two runs across in the second inning against Martin. Bisons third baseman Mike Hessman led off with a solo home run and left fielder Chris Carter scored on a sacrifice fly by shortstop Ruben Tejada. The Bisons would score one more run in the top of the third on a Hessman sacrifice fly to score second baseman Russ Adams.

The Chiefs scored one run in the second, third and fourth innings to tie the game at three. The deciding run for Syracuse came in the sixth inning when Lambin notched his third RBI of the day to score Chris Duncan.

Joel Peralta recorded the first save by any Chiefs pitcher this season pitching the ninth inning and facing just four batters. Atahualpa Severino also pitched 1 1/3 innings in relief giving up two hits and striking out two.

The Chiefs finish their season opening homestand with a 5-1 record and sit at first place in the International League North. Syracuse now takes to the road for three games against the Scranton/Wilkes Barre Yankees and then four against the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs. First pitch for Wednesday's game at PNC field is scheduled for 7:05.
