Spokane Chiefs News Release

SPOKANE, Wash. - The Spokane Chiefs announced on Wednesday that they have signed forward Reed Jacobson to a WHL Standard Player Agreement. Jacobson was the Chiefs' sixth round (115th overall) pick in the 2017 WHL Bantam Draft.

"Reed continued to make strides in his development this season and we're very happy to sign him to a WHL agreement," said general manager Scott Carter. "He has become a very solid and dependable two-way player. We'd like to officially welcome him to the organization and look forward to seeing him in a Chiefs jersey in the future."

Jacobson, a 2002-born forward from Swift Current, Sask., recently completed his second regular season with the Swift Current Legionnaires of the Saskatchewan Midget Hockey League, tying for the team lead with 55 points (26G-29A) in 44 games played. His scoring outburst nearly doubles his totals from the 2017-18 campaign, during which he posted 28 points (14G-14A) as an SMHL rookie.

Standing 5-foot-9 and 160 pounds, Jacobson piled up 15 multi-point games and five with multiple goals, including two hat tricks. He wore an "A" as an alternate captain for the Legionnaires, who finished fifth in the regular season standings and are set to take on the fourth-place Notre Dame Hounds in the first round of the playoffs beginning March 2.

Jacobson is the fourth player from Spokane's 2017 bantam draft class to sign a WHL agreement, joining current Chiefs Jack Finley (6th overall) and Erik Atchison (94th) as well as goaltending prospect Campbell Arnold (28th).

These two teams meet again Wednesday night for another 7 p.m. puck drop. Mike Boyle will have the call on 94.1 FM The Bear beginning at 6:30.

The team returns to Spokane Arena on Tuesday, March 5 to take on the Everett Silvertips for another TicketsWest Player Magnet Giveaway Night. The first 1000 fans through the gates and all full season ticket holders will receive a refrigerator magnet featuring a Chiefs player.

Tickets for March 5 and all Spokane Chiefs home games are available online at spokanechiefs.com, over the phone at 509-535-PUCK and in-person at the Chiefs' Ticket Office at Spokane Arena.
