Chiefs Sign 2022 Fourth-Round Pick D Owen Schoettler

Spokane, Wash. - The Spokane Chiefs are proud to announce that defenseman prospect Owen Schoettler [SHET-ler] has signed a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement. From Edmonton, Alberta, Schoettler was selected by the Chiefs in the fourth round (71st overall) of the 2022 WHL Prospects Draft.

"We are excited that Owen and his family have decided that the Spokane Chiefs and the Western Hockey League is where he wants to continue his development," Spokane Chiefs General Manager Matt Bardsley said. "Owen possesses an excellent combination of skating, puck skills and hockey sense, as well as a physical component to his game. We know that he will be a great addition to our team and look forward to helping him maximize his development."

The 5-foot-11 blueliner has posted 30 points in 30 games so far this season with Northern Alberta Xtreme U17 Prep on seven goals and 23 assists. Schoettler, 16, has also played three games up with Xtreme's U18 squad.

Prior to being drafted by the Chiefs, Schoettler put up 34 points (6G-28A) in 27 games with Xtreme's U15 club.
