
Chiefs Shutout For First Time All Season

Beloit, WI - The Peoria Chiefs were shutout for the first time this season in a 2-0 loss to the Beloit Snappers Monday night. The opener of a nine-game, eight-day road trip drops the Chiefs to 22-19 on the season.
The Chiefs loaded the bases with one out in the second inning but did not score against Mitchell Jordan. Beloit took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the inning as Logan Farrar hit a solo home run to right off Paul Balestrieri.
Beloit doubled their lead in the third. Jack Meggs led off with a double and scored on a single to center by Jesus Lopez. Beloit got Lopez to second but Balestrieri got out of the inning without any further damage.
Balestrieri (1-1) took the loss as he allowed two runs on four hits over 3 2/3 innings while striking out three and walking one. Kodi Whitley allowed two hits over 3 1/3 shutout innings as he struck out four. Fabian Blanco allowed one hit and struck out one in one shutout inning.
Notes...Nick Plummer has an 11-game hit streak, the longest for the Chiefs since Danny Hudzina hit in 13 straight to end the 2017 regular season...Dennis Ortega saw his eight-game hit streak come to an end...Ortega threw out Nick Allen attempting to steal in the 8th and has thrown out 10-of-18 this season...Bryce Denton had a seven-game hit streak end...Peoria has allowed a home run in five straight games...The last time the Chiefs were shutout was September 3, 2017 at Kane County...The Chiefs are 219-219 all-time against Beloit in the regular season...Peoria has outscored Beloit 23-18 this season but are just 1-4 with all four losses by two runs or less...This is the first game in a stretch where the Chiefs play 15 of 20 on the road...the series continues Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. as the Chiefs start RH Alvaro Seijas (1-2, 5.91) against Beloit LH Ivan Andueza (0-1, 5.87)...The broadcast can be heard, starting with the Pre-Game Show at 10:45 a.m. on www.peoriachiefs.com/listenlive and is also available on the Peoria Chiefs Network in the Tune-In Radio App.
