Quad Cities River Bandits News Release
Davenport, IA - The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers hit two solo home runs in the fourth inning on Monday night at Modern Woodmen Park and made them hold up as they defeated the Quad Cities River Bandits by a 2-1 score. Each of the last four Bandits losses have been by one run margins.
Wisconsin scored the first two runs of the game via the long ball in the fourth inning. Demi Orimoloye opened the fourth inning by launching a home run over the wall in right center to give the Timber Rattlers a 1-0 lead. Later in the frame, Pat McInerney belted a solo home run off of the batter's eye in center field to extend the margin to 2-0.
The River Bandits cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the fifth inning. With two outs, Jonathan Lacroix worked a walk off of Wisconsin starter Nelson Hernandez. The next batter, Jake Meyers, split the gap in left center with a line drive that rolled all the way to the warning track and allowed Lacroix to touch the plate, pulling the Bandits within 2-1. Neither team was able to tally the rest of the way.
Yohan Ramirez pitched 5.0 innings and allowed two runs on six hits to take the loss. He struck out three. Cristian Javier was outstanding in relief, tossing 4.0 scoreless innings while compiling nine strikeouts and scattering three hits.
The River Bandits compiled six hits on the night. Meyers and Jonathan Arauz each came up with a pair.
The River Bandits (23-20) and Timber Rattlers (21-23) will resume the series at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday. RHP Leovanny Rodriguez (1-0, 2.25) will take the ball for the Bandits as Wisconsin turns to RHP Dylan File (5-2, 3.60).
