Lansing Lugnuts News Release

PEORIA, Ill. - The Peoria Chiefs (10-15; 48-46) blanked the Lansing Lugnuts (9-15; 35-58), 5-0, on Thursday night at O'Brien Field thanks entirely to strong pitching and the offense of Jovan Rosa.

Rosa entered the game with five RBI in 13 games with Peoria, but the third baseman had doubled that output by the end of the evening. He went 2-for-3, supplying a sacrifice fly in the second inning, a three-run homer in the fourth, and an RBI single in the eighth to add insurance.

Lugnuts starter Joel Carreno (0-2) bore the brunt of the offense, surrendering four runs on seven hits in 6 1/3 innings of work to shoulder the loss.

On the other side of the ledger, Chiefs starter Justin Bristow was superb. Bristow (4-5) fired six scoreless innings, scattering four singles while striking out eight.

Relievers Manolin De Leon and Chris Siegler took things the rest of the way, combining to hold the Lugnuts to a Balbino Fuenmayor walk and a Mike McDade single over the final three frames.

Having split the first two games of the series, the Lugnuts and Chiefs play the rubber match in their three-game series on Friday at 7:30 p.m. Right-hander Chase Lirette (3-1, 3.45) will take the mound for Lansing against right-hander Chris Archer (3-4, 2.39) of Peoria.
