Spokane Chiefs prospect David Jiricek (CZE) was selected 6th overall by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2022 NHL Draft on July 7.
Jiricek, selected 54th overall by the Chiefs in the 2020 CHL Import Draft, went into the NHL Draft ranked as one of the top two defensemen in the 2022 class and the fourth-rated European skater by NHL Central Scouting.
The 6-foot-3 defenseman played in Czech Extraliga, his country's top pro league, and had five goals and six assists in 29 games this season for HC Plzen.
