
Sabres Select Savoie 9th Overall in 2022 NHL Draft

The Winnipeg ICE congratulate forward Matthew Savoie on being selected 9th overall in the 2022 NHL Draft by the Buffalo Sabres.
Savoie, from St. Albert, Alberta, set new WHL career highs this past season in games played (65), goals (35), assists (55), points (90), plus minus (+54) and penalty minutes (32). Savoie was named a WHL 1st Team All Star forward at the conclusion of the regular season. He was selected by the ICE in the 1st round, 1st overall in the 2019 WHL Prospects Draft.
Since 1999, 32 members of the ICE have been selected in the NHL Draft led by first rounders Sam Reinhart (2nd 2014 Buffalo), Matthew Savoie (9th 2022 Buffalo), Dan Blackburn (10th 2001 NY Rangers), Peyton Krebs (17th 2019 Vegas), Steve McCarthy (23rd 1999 Chicago) and Carson Lambos (26th 2021 Minnesota).
