Chiefs Drop Game 3 in OT

Kevin Sundher's second goal of the game 3:20 into overtime gave the Chilliwack Bruins a 4-3 win over the Spokane Chiefs on Wednesday night in game three of the first round of the WHL playoffs. The win was their first of the series. The Chiefs lead the best-of-seven affair 2-1 going into Thursday's game four in the Spokane Arena.

The Bruins trailed 3-0 through two periods of play as the Chiefs outshot Chilliwack 45-13 in that span. Anthony Bardaro scored 8:33 into the first period on a nifty individual effort dragging the puck past a Chilliwack d-man and into the slot for a backhand goal. Tyler Johnson then scored his second of the post-season at 11:06 of the frame.

Cole Hamblin found the back of the net at 15:19 of the second with Levko Koper and Johnson assisting. On the play, the Bruin's Tyler Stahl was called for a five-minute elbowing major giving the Chiefs a score-at-will power play for the remainder of the period. Spokane failed to score on the opportunity which was one of two man advantages they had on the night.

Ryan Howse put the Bruins on the board at 3:04 of the third. They tallied their second at 9:22 when Robin Soudek scored on the power play, the second half of a double minor whistled to the Chiefs' Brady Brassart. Sundher then tied the game at 11:44 of the frame. He would win it with a snap shot on a break away from the blue line early into the overtime period.

It marked the second overtime of the series as the Chiefs won game one in Chilliwack last Friday night.

The Bruins' win guaranteed that game five will be played in Spokane on Saturday night at 7:00. Ticket holders should use Ticket 'B' for Thursday's game and Ticket 'C' for Saturday.
