
Red Deer Rebels Nugent-Hopkins Named Husky WHL Player of the Month

CALGARY, AB. - The Western Hockey League announced today that forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, of the Red Deer Rebels, has been named the HUSKY WHL Player of the Month for March.
A 17 year-old year from Burnaby, BC, Nugent-Hopkins collecting 19 points in his last eight regular season games in the month of March, finding the net 11 times and accumulating eight assists to go along with a +9 rating. He collected points in seven of eight games played which included six multi-point games and four game winning goals. During Nugent-Hopkins' seven game point streak through March his efforts earned him a Three Star selection seven times including three 1st Stars.
Nugent-Hopkins's 19 points through the March ranked him 4th among all WHL scorers during the 2010-11 regular season with 106 points (31 goals, 75 assists) in 69 games played. His consistent play helped the Rebels win six of their last seven to close out the regular season and finish 2nd in the WHL Eastern Conference with a 48-16-4-4 record and 104 points.
Nugent-Hopkins is playing his second full season with the Rebels who made him the 1st overall pick in the 2008 WHL Bantam Draft. The 2010-11 WHL 1st Team All-Star was named Team Orr Player of the Game at the 2011 Home Hardware CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game. Nugent-Hopkins also is the WHL's highest-ranked NHL Draft-eligible prospect in NHL Central Scouting's Mid-Term rankings for players eligible for the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
His accomplishments make Ryan Nugent-Hopkins a deserving choice as the HUSKY WHL Player of the Month for March.
