Peoria Chiefs News Release

Grand Chute, WI - The Peoria Chiefs clinched a winning road trip for the first time in the second half as Jae-Hoon Ha hit a three-run homer in the sixth inning for a 3-1 win over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers Friday night. The win ends the roadtrip at 4-3 and moves the Chiefs to 19-19 on the half and 57-50 on the season. The game was scoreless into the bottom of the fifth as the Chiefs left five runners on base and bounced into two double plays in the first five innings. The Rattlers also hit into a double play after loading the bases in the second inning. With Nick Struck on in relief of Marcus Hatley, Wisconsin scored the first run of the game in the fifth. Cutter Dykstra drew a leadoff walk and with one out Austin Stockfisch also walked. Michael Marseco put the Rattlers on top with a ground-rule double down the left-field line that got lodged under the fence. Struck walked D'Vontrey Richardson to load the bases and Scooter Gennett ripped a line drive down the line that Justin Bour caught for the second out. Bour raced to the bag to beat Richardson for the inning-ending double play. Down 1-0 into the sixth the Chiefs finally came through with a big hit. With one out and one on, Brandon May singled to center off his former college teammate Del Howell. Ha followed with a three-run homer to straightaway center into the Chiefs bullpen. The homer, his fifth of the season and second of the roadtrip, put the Chiefs on top 3-1. Struck escaped trouble in the bottom of the sixth. After a walk and a double play, Chris Dennis doubled down the left-field line. Dykstra hit a grounder to third and George Matheus threw high and wide of first base. As Dennis rounded third and tried to score, Watkins tracked down the ball and threw a strike to the plate. Luis Flores applied the tag to end the inning with the Chiefs still up 3-1. Wisconsin threatened again in the eighth with a two-out rally. Hunter Morris singled and Kentrail Davis walked to put two on before Corey Martin relieved Struck. Martin struck out Dennis looking to end the inning and keep the Chiefs on top 3-1. Hatley threw two innings in his second Chiefs start of the season as he works his way back from off-season surgery. He allowed two hits and hit a batter over two scoreless innings. Stuck threw 5 2/3 innings out of the bullpen and allowed one run on three hits. The right-hander walked six and struck out five while inducing three double plays. Martin struck out two in 1 1/3 perfect innings for his third save of the season.
