Spokane, Wash. - Despite outshooting their opponent 36-30, the Spokane Chiefs fell to the Lethbridge Hurricanes 3-0 in their annual Teddy Bear Toss game on Saturday night.

After a scoreless first period, Chase Bertholet fired a puck toward the net in the second period that was mistaken by fans for the first goal of the game and the teddy bears rained down. In total, 6,825 bears were collected off the ice. All bears will be donated to The Spokesman-Review's Christmas Bureau.

Once the bears were cleaned up, Noah Chadwick opened the scoring at 6:38 in the middle frame to give the Hurricanes a 1-0 advantage.

Lethbridge added on as Logan Wormald capitalized on the man advantage at 14:02 in the third. To seal the deal, Brayden Edwards scored an empty netter to put the game away at 3-0.

Cooper Michaluk started in net for the Chiefs and turned away 27-of-29 shots, earning himself second star honors.

Up next, Spokane will take on the Seattle Thunderbirds for the first of three contests this month on Tuesday, December 6 before heading on their eastern conference road trip.
