
Pats End Western Canada Swing in Edmonton

Edmonton, Alta. - The Regina Pats take on the Edmonton Oil Kings to finish off their Western Canada road trip today at 5:00 p.m. Sask. time inside Rogers Place.
The Pats are coming off a 5-1 win over the Prince George Cougars on Friday to improve to 4-1 over their road trip. The Cougars scored first early in the opening frame, but the Pats bounced back with five unanswered goals throughout the game to secure their 13th win of the season. Connor Bedard scored twice, while Tye Spencer, Tanner Howe and Easton Armstrong added the others. Drew Sim made 30 saves for his third straight win. The final shots were 31-29 for the Cougars. The Pats went 2-5 on the power play and 7-7 on the penalty kill.
Meanwhile, the Edmonton Oil Kings are coming off a 5-1 loss to the Saskatoon Blades on Wednesday at home. Rhett Melnyk scored Edmonton's lone goal in their fourth straight loss. The final shots were 24-11 for the Blades. The Oil Kings went 4-4 on the penalty kill and 0-4 on their power play.
The Oil Kings are coming off a 50-14-3-1 season with 104 points which was good for second in the WHL, eventually leading to their third WHL championship (2012, 2014, 2022), in their fourth finals appearance in the last 10 years, defeating the Seattle Thunderbirds in six games. They reached the Memorial Cup where they went 1-1-1.
