CAN YOU BE AHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK TWICE IN A FORTNIGHT?
Wolves captain PAT CANNONE, who was honored on Jan. 18 as the American Hockey League's Player of the Week after posting 5 goals and 2 assists, has his candidacy for the Feb. 1 award off to a great start. The veteran center's campaign started with a bang in Iowa on Tuesday night when he delivered a hat trick and an assist to lift the Wolves to a 4-3 overtime triumph over the Iowa Wild. He also stretched his point streak to eight games, which is tied for the longest active streak in the AHL.
ILLINOIS LOTTERY CUP
Chicago renews its Illinois Lottery Cup rivalry this week with a home-and-home set against Rockford that starts Friday on the road. Home ice has been the determining factor in the six previous meetings this season as the home team has won each time. The Wolves trail the season series, 2-3-0-1, as they look to snap a five-game losing streak at the MetroCentre.
ROAD WARRIORS
Chicago completes a string of five straight road contests on Friday in Rockford. Over the past 10 days, the Wolves have traveled 2,534 miles with road trips to Grand Rapids, Charlotte and Iowa -- and that doesn't take into account the travel problems getting in and out of Charlotte during last weekend's ice storm. The team did not arrive at its hotel on Friday until 4 a.m.

WOLVES HEADLINERS
- PAT CANNONE: Recorded his second hat trick in 10 days in leading Chicago to a 4-3 overtime win at Iowa Tuesday night ... the all-star center has scored 8 goals in the last six games and boasts 8 goals and 7 assists during his current eight-game point streak ... the Wolves captain added to his team-leading point total (37) and, with 16 goals, has surpassed his goals total from last season. CANNONE and defenseman ANDRE BENOIT will participate in the AHL All-Star Skills Competition on Sunday (7 p.m., Comcast Sports Net) and the AHL All-Star Classic on Monday (6 p.m., Comcast SportsNet Plus) in Syracuse, N.Y.
- DANNY KRISTO: Claimed the headlines in a 4-3 come-from-behind win on Jan. 22 at Charlotte ... With the Wolves trailing 3-0 after two periods, KRISTO helped ignite a rally by scoring twice in the third period, including an extra-attacker goal with six seconds left in regulation. After a scoreless overtime period, KRISTO scored the lone shootout goal (out of five shooters) to complete the Wolves' three-goal comeback.
- JORDAN CARON: The left wing joins CANNONE and KRISTO on a line that has produced 20 points (9G, 11A) over the last three games, factoring in nine of the team's 14 goals. ... CARON registered his 100th career AHL point last weekend and has scored goals in three straight games, raising his season total to 14 (second-best on the team) ... CARON has collected 24 points in 35 games, his highest point total since 2010-11 when he amassed 28 points in 47 contests with Providence (AHL).
- JORDAN SCHMALTZ: Has points in three of four games, taking over the team's rookie scoring lead in the process with 22 points on three goals and 19 assists ... The only Wolves player to appear in all 41 games, SCHMALTZ also ranks fourth in scoring among AHL rookie blueliners.
WOLF TRACKS
- Following this weekend's Illinois Lottery Cup games, the Wolves will be off for four days (Feb. 1-4) during the AHL All-Star break.
- The Wolves have found their scoring touch on the road, averaging 4.25 goals over their last four road contests. On the season, the team is averaging 2.76 goals in 21 away games.
- PAT CANNONE is tied for fifth place in AHL scoring with 37 points.
- All-star defenseman ANDRE BENOIT is doing his part to keep the Wolves from being undermanned, spending just eight minutes in the penalty box this season. To look at it another way, BENOIT takes a penalty just once every nine games, a remarkable feat for one of the team's ice time leaders.
- Chicago's 4-3 shootout win over Charlotte last Friday marked the second time this season the Wolves had rallied from three goals down, and the first time it resulted in a win. On Nov. 18, Chicago overcame a 3-0 deficit, but lost 5-3 at Milwaukee.
WOLVES REWIND (2-1-0-0)

- PAT CANNONE scored 41 seconds into overtime to lead Chicago to the win at the Wells Fargo Center
- CANNONE notched his third career Wolves hat trick and finished with 4 points as he assisted on JORDAN CARON's game-tying goal with 2:39 left in regulation
- JORDAN BINNINGTON, seeing his first action since Jan. 8, made 31 saves to earn the win
Saturday, Jan. 23 (at) Charlotte 6, Chicago 5
- Chicago claimed the lead four times, but allowed two third-period goals in falling to Charlotte at Bojangles' Coliseum
- Five Wolves players lit the lamp, with JORDAN CARON and DANNY KRISTO claiming their 13th goals of the season
- NIKLAS LUNDSTROM earned his first career AHL start and finished with 30 saves
Friday, Jan. 22 Chicago 4, (at) Charlotte 3 (SO)
- DANNY KRISTO scored two goals, and tallied the only shootout goal, to lead Chicago to a 4-3 victory over Charlotte at Bojangles' Coliseum
- The Wolves fell behind 3-0 before striking for three goals in the third period. JORDAN CARON struck for his 12th goal of the season and KRISTO registered his 11th and 12th markers -- the latter coming with six seconds left in regulation.
- NIKLAS LUNDSTROM earned the win in net, making 11 saves after spelling starter PHEONIX COPLEY (17 saves) late in the second period
