January 27, 2016 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Rockford IceHogs News Release

Rockford, Ill. - Tonight, the Central Division-leading Rockford IceHogs (25-10-2-4) host the division's second place Charlotte Checkers (25-12-1-2) at the BMO Harris Bank Center at 7 p.m.

The IceHogs will be celebrating BMO Harris Bank Night and handing out Zamboni Banks to the first 1,500 fans to commemorate the occasion.

The game marks yet another Winning Weekday; if the IceHogs win, every fan in attendance can redeem their ticket for a free ticket to the next weekday game.

Tickets are available for tonight's game and can be purchased online, by calling 815-968-5222, at the BMO Harris Bank Center box office, or at any Ticketmaster location including Walmart.

Tonight's contest will be broadcast live locally on WIFR's Justice Network on 23.3 and online at AHLLive.com. Television coverage kicks off at 6:30 p.m. with the IceHogs Warm Up pre-game show. A free audio feed is available via WXRX.com or by using the new IceHogs app. For instant updates throughout the game, follow the IceHogs on Twitter (@goicehogs).

Charlotte left Rockford with a 2-1 shootout victory on Oct. 27, 2015, the only time the two squads have met this season. Drew MacIntyre turned away 36 as well as all three IceHogs shootout attempts to take the victory.

Leighton is currently riding a 10-game unbeaten streak (7-0-1-2) dating back to Dec. 15, 2015. The IceHogs goaltender has also recorded two shutouts over that span to move him within one of tying Johnny Bower's all-time AHL record (45).

Vince Hinostroza will look to continue his strong play, as he held a three-game goal streak before Mark McNeill scored the only goal for the IceHogs in last Saturday's 1-0 win over the Iowa Wild. McNeill returns to the lineup after his first NHL call-up to the Chicago Blackhawks having earned a point in each of his last six games (4g-3a).

Derek Ryan leads the Checkers with 34 points (11g-13a) and scored the only regulation goal for Charlotte in the Oct. 27 meeting. Brock McGinn is riding a four-game point streak since returning on assignment from Carolina (1g-4a).

Next Home Game: Friday, Jan. 29 versus Chicago Wolves at 7 p.m. The IceHogs host the Wolves in yet another Illinois Lottery Cup matchup. Rockford holds a 4-1-0-1 record versus their intra-state rival this season. Rock Valley Culligan will sponsor a sock monkey giveaway to the first 2,500 fans. Doors will open at 5:15 p.m. for a Blues Flame Lounge Friday. Fans 21-and-older are invited to enjoy live blues music, a happy hour special, and free appetizers at the Blue Flame Lounge on the main concourse.
