
Phantoms Take Back-And-Forth Contest in Allentown

ALLENTOWN, P.A. - The Binghamton Senators fell 6-3 to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms in Allentown despite a back-and-forth game into the final period.
Colin McDonald opened the scoring for the night with his fifth goal of the season from Nick Cousins and Andrew MacDonald at the 7:30 mark. Ryan Dzingel tied the game almost four minutes later off assists from Chris Carlisle and Eric O'Dell. The teams went to the locker rooms for the first intermission with the score knotted at 1 and the hosts outshooting the B-Sens 11-9.
Binghamton took had a short lead in the second period after Eric O'Dell notched his first of the night on the power play with less than five minutes to play. With less than two minutes remaining, McDonald tied the game back up with his second goal of the night to once again send the teams to the intermission in a tie. Binghamton led Lehigh Valley 14-7 in shots during the second period.
O'Dell notched his team-leading eighth power-play goal of the night to give the B-Sens their final lead of the night pushing the score to 3-2 just over five minutes into the final frame. Lehigh Valley answered with four goals over the final 10 minutes to take the lead and the game from Binghamton. Cole Bardreau tied the game back up just shy of the halfway point followed by Cousins scoring twice just under three minutes apart before McDonald completed his hat trick bid with an empty-net goal five minutes later.
Anthony Stolarz recorded the win with 30 saves while Matt O'Connor, who saw his first game since leaving the December 29th game with an injury, had 25 saves in the losing effort.
Binghamton travels to Rochester on Friday for a matchup with the Americans with at 7:05p.m. The B-Sens finish up their away stretch of games on Saturday in Toronto against the Marlies at 5:00p.m. before heading into the AHL All-Star Break.
