Ontario, CA - The Ontario Reign, proud American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League (NHL), visit the Stockton Heat tonight at 7:00 p.m. PT at Stockton Arena in Stockton, California. Tonight is the sixth of 12 meetings between the two teams this season.
Winning Ways:
The Reign enter tonight's contest on a four-game winning streak, their fifth winning streak (of any length) this season. The Heat are winners of their past three games.
Backman to AHL All-Star Classic:
Yesterday morning, Reign forward Sean Backman was named to the Pacific Division All-Stars for the 2016 AHL All-Star Classic this weekend in Syracuse, New York. Backman is tied for the team lead with 31 points (10 goals, 21 assists) in 37 games this season and is currently on a three-game goal scoring streak (three goals) and four-game point streak (three goals, one assist).
Dowd on the Rise:
Forward Nic Dowd is riding a six-game point streak rolling into tonight's contest (five goals, four assists) and has six goals and eight assists for 14 points in his last nine games. His recent success has pulled him into a tie with forward Sean Backman for the team lead in points (31).
Wild Month Winding Down:
The month of January features a season-high 14 games, including a campaign-high 10 home games, for the Ontario Reign. Through 11 games contests, the Reign hold a 7-4-0-0 record.
Smothering the Heat:
The Reign hold a 4-1-0-0 head-to-head record against the Heat. Forwards Jonny Brodzinski and Jordan Samuels-Thomas lead the Reign and the series with three goals and four points each.
