The Chicago Wolves have signed two defensemen - Chicago native NICK NAUMENKO (NOH-mehn-koh) and National Hockey League veteran CHRIS TAMER.
NAUMENKO collected eight goals, 20 points and 18 penalty minutes in 40 games with the American Hockey League's Hershey Bears and six penalty minutes in six games with the AHL's Utah Grizzlies last year.
The 31-year-old defenseman has registered 118 assists and 164 points in 292 career AHL games with the Worcester Ice Cats (1996-1998), Portland Pirates (2001-02), Utah (2003-2005) and Hershey (2004-05). He has also accumulated 99 assists and 125 points in 206 International Hockey League games with the Grizzlies (1998-99), Las Vegas Thunder (1998-99), Kansas City Blades (1998-2000) and Cleveland Lumberjacks (2000-01).
TAMER has recorded 64 assists, 85 points and 1,183 penalty minutes in 644 NHL games with the Pittsburgh Penguins (1993-1999), New York Rangers (1998-99) and Atlanta Thrashers (1999-2004), the Wolves' NHL affiliate.
The Dearborn, Mich., native ranks second all-time in Thrashers' franchise history with 503 penalty minutes and 339 games played. TAMER was selected by Pittsburgh with its third choice (68th overall) in the 1990 NHL Entry Draft.
