
Iowa Stars add two to roster

DES MOINES, IA - Iowa Stars Director of Hockey Operations Scott White announced today that defenseman Shawn Belle and right wing B.J. Crombeen have been assigned to the American Hockey League club by the Dallas Stars.
Drafted by the St. Louis Blues in the first round, 30th pick overall, in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, Belle was acquired on June 25th, 2004 in a trade with St. Louis for goaltender Jason Bacashihua. The Edmonton, Alberta native played in 62 games for the Tri-City Americans of the Western Hockey League (WHL). The left-handed blueliner notched a career-high 13 goals and 32 assists, while posting 76 penalty minutes: 62(13/32/45)76. In 249 games over five seasons with Tri-City, he recorded 30 goals and 84 assists, along with 272 penalty minutes: 249(30/84/114)272. The 6-1, 200 pound Belle won the 2005 Gold Medal and 2004 Silver Medal playing for Team Canada at the World Junior Championships.
The 6-2, 212 pound Crombeen has played the last four season with the Barrie Colts of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). The 2004-05 Colts captain posted 31 goals, 18 assists and 111 PIM's in 63 games: 63(31/18/49)111. In 248 career games with the Colts, he registered 86 goals, 84 assists and 516 PIM's: (248(86/84/170)516.
Both players are 20 years-old.
OPENING WEEKEND: The Iowa Stars begin their inaugural season on October 6th and 8th at Wells Fargo Arena against the Peoria Rivermen and Omaha Knights, respectively. Both games will have a 7:05 PM start time. Tickets to all games can be obtained by calling 515-23-STARS.
PRE-SEASON: The Stars kick-off the exhibition season with a game on Tuesday, September 27th at 7:05 PM at Wells Fargo Arena against the Peoria Rivermen. Highlighted by an initiative with KCCI to raise funds for the victims of Hurricane Katrina, every box office ticket sold for the Stars first exhibition game on September 27, the team will donate 50% of the ticket price to the Red Cross.
