
Wild assigns Foy, Olvecky to Aeros

HOUSTON, Texas - The National Hockey League's Minnesota Wild has assigned right wing Matt Foy and left wing Peter Olvecky (ohl-VEHT-skee) to the American Hockey League's Houston Aeros. The Aeros open up training camp Tuesday from 2-3:15 p.m. at the Sugar Land Ice & Sports Center following the impacts of Hurricane Rita.
The Aeros' training camp roster stands at 30. Goalies (3) - Josh Harding, Miroslav Kopriva, Seamus Kotyk. Defensemen (12) - Chris Cava, Kurtis Foster, Chris Heid, Darryl McArthur, Curtis Murphy, Anders Myrvold, Colin Peters, Erik Reitz, Aaron Schneekloth, Ryan Stokes, Clayton Stoner, Dustin Wood. Forwards (15) - Derek Campbell, Nicolas Corbeil, Adam Courchaine, Matt Foy, Mike James, Bill Kinkel, Kirby Law, Bryan Lundbohm, Josh Olson, Peter Olvecky, Olivier Proulx, Mark Rooneem, Joey Tetarenko, Roman Voloshenko, Erik Westrum.
Foy, 22 (5/18/83), recorded three points (1-2=3) in five preseason games with the Wild this season. The 6-foot-2, 219-pound forward skated for Houston in 2004-05 and recorded 25 points (12-13=25) in 69 contests. In his rookie campaign of 2003-04, Foy also totaled 24 points (11-13=24). The Oakville, Ontario-native was originally selected by Minnesota in the sixth round (175th overall) of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
Olvecky, 19 (10/11/85), notched two points (1-1=2) in three preseason games with Minnesota this season. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound forward collected 19 points (10-9=19) and 49 penalty minutes (PIM) in 45 games during his first full season with Dukla Trencin of the Slovakia Elite League and was named Rookie of the Year in 2004-05. The Trencin, Slovakia-native recorded four points (3-1=4) in six games for Slovakia at the 2005 World Junior Hockey Championships. Olvecky finished tied for first on the club in goals and tied for third in scoring.
