GENEVA, ILLINOIS - In an effort to raise awareness for men's health issues and funds to support psychosocial programs for cancer patients and their families, the Chicago Steel announced Tuesday a partnership with LivingWell Cancer Resource Center in Geneva. The team will participate in various activities and appearances with participants at the center, as well as a fundraising event through the team's Movember Night game on Friday, November 27 at Fox Valley Ice Arena.

The entire Chicago Steel hockey team will visit LivingWell on Thursday, November 19, meeting with the Braveheart (3-6 year olds) and Club Courageous (7-12 year olds) children's groups to demonstrate various team warm-up exercises to help relieve stress while also participating in other group activities with the children. Members of the Steel roster will also appear at LivingWell on the morning of Saturday, November 21 to enjoy a breakfast chat with members of the adult men's group and discuss their backgrounds and talk some hockey.

The appearances come in advance of the team's Friday, November 27 Movember Night. The USHL Regular Season game will serve as a special night for the team to raise awareness for men's health issues and funds for LivingWell's efforts to provide comfort and community to anyone experiencing the effects of cancer.

Players on the Steel roster have been growing mustaches throughout the month of "Movember," with weekly progress pictures posted to ChicagoSteelHockeyTeam.com/Movember along with more information about the event. During Movember Night, fans will have a chance to see the fully-grown "Steel 'Staches" and vote with dollars for their favorites, with all proceeds benefitting LivingWell.

"The Steel are proud to partner with LivingWell Cancer Resource Center to not only raise awareness and funds, but to also recognize the significant work LivingWell has been doing in our community over the last decade" said Steel President Dan Lehv. "Our players are looking forward to spending time this week with participants at LivingWell, and through their participation in the Movember movement, being able to raise money for a worthy cause."

LivingWell Cancer Resource Center, part of Northwestern Medicine, serves as a vital component to comprehensive cancer care and stands as a gathering place that provides comfort and community to anyone experiencing the effects of cancer. LivingWell exists to provide compassionate care that empowers, encourages, supports and provides hope to cancer patients and their families. Their focus is to help cancer patients and their caregivers learn vital skills that enable them to regain control, reduce isolation and enhance their quality of life. The organization's hope is that program participants will feel less alone, better informed, more hopeful, and empowered to take on the challenge of facing cancer by participating in programs and services offered by LivingWell.
