CHICAGO - The WNBA Chicago Sky will hold Media Day on Tuesday, May 13, from 10-12 at Attack Athletics. Sky veterans Candice Dupree, Dominique Canty and Cathy Joens have returned from playing overseas. Following Media Day, the Sky will play their first regular season game of the 2008 season against the Seattle Storm on Saturday, May 17 at 9 p.m. CDT at Seattle's KeyArena.
The Sky finished the pre-season with two wins and one loss. The Sky won their first two pre-season games against Seattle on April 30 at the UIC Pavilion and against Indiana on May 3 at the Al McGuire Center in Milwaukee. The final pre-season game was an 84-68 loss to the LA Sparks on May 8 at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates. Brooke Wyckoff led the Sky with 12 points, while Sylvia Fowles nearly earned her second consecutive WNBA double-double, scoring 10 points and grabbing a game-high 9 rebounds.
SKY ROSTER UPDATE
Final roster cuts will be made on Friday, May 16. Amanda Jackson and Carrie Moore were released on Friday, May 9. WNBA All-Star Candice Dupree, along with Dominique Canty, and Cathy Joens recently arrived at training camp after playing overseas. Other players currently in training camp include Quianna Chaney, Kayte Christensen, Sylvia Fowles, Erin Grant, Chasity Melvin, Jia Perkins, Armintie Price, Brooke Queenan, Stephanie Raymond and Brooke Wyckoff.

Positive Coaching Alliance Workshop: Sky athletes and coaches will attend a Positive Coaching Alliance workshop on Monday, May 12 after practice at Attack Athletics. The Positive Coaching Alliance is an organization that conducts group workshops nationwide for youth sports leaders, coaches, parents and athletes, helping attendees create a positive, character-building environment for youth athletes, replacing the prevalent win-at-all-cost mentality.
Girls Basketball Outreach: On Wednesday, May 14, Sylvia Fowles will speak to young athletes at Chicago's Ella Flagg School at 2 p.m. She will speak to students about self-esteem, hard work, education and teamwork, with a question and answer session to follow.
McDonald's National Sampling Day: On Thursday, May 15, Sky athletes will be working behind the counter and signing autographs at five area McDonald's restaurants, to celebrate the launch of the chain's new Southern Style Chicken Sandwich. Restaurant addresses to be provided tomorrow.
§ Two-time WNBA All-Star Candice Dupree will be serving up fries in Naperville.
§ Rookie sensation Sylvia Fowles will be at Roosevelt and Kinzie.
§ 2007 WNBA Sixth Woman of the Year finalist Jia Perkins will be in Joliet.
§ 2007 WNBA Rookie of the Year Armintie Price will be at 52nd and Lake.
§ Veteran Brooke Wyckoff will be in Schaumburg.
