Chicago Sky News Release

CHICAGO - The Chicago Sky (10-13) start the week after two dramatic back-to-back wins over the Eastern and Western conference leaders. On Saturday night, the Sky faced the Indiana Fever (16-6) and came away with a 68-65 win. Jia Perkins led the Sky with 17 points, including a clutch three-point shot with 42.4 seconds left. The following night, the Sky earned their second win of the season over the Western Conference-leading San Antonio Silver Stars (14-7). The game went into overtime with the score even at 69 at the end of regulation. Perkins continued her hot streak, and led the team in scoring for the fifth consecutive game with 27 points, but it was Dominique Canty's game-winning jumper with 6.1 seconds left (on a pass from Perkins) that gave the Sky the 84-82 overtime win.

This week, the Sky meets the Eastern Conference-leading Detroit Shock (17-5) for the third time this season. The Sky is winless against the Shock and hopes to net a franchise-first win in Detroit on Thursday, July 26. On Friday, July 27 the Sky returns home to face the Phoenix Mercury (13-10) and WNBA All-Stars Diana Taurasi and Chicago native Cappie Pondexter. On Sunday, July 29 the Sky take on the Houston Comets (7-16) at the UIC Pavilion.
