Chicago Sky News Release
CHICAGO - The Chicago Sky unveiled today the team's schedule for the upcoming 2019 WNBA season.
Kicking off a new era under General Manager and Head Coach James Wade, the Sky will travel to Minnesota, where Wade served as an assistant coach for the previous two seasons, for a must-see season opener against his former team on Saturday, May 25. Chicago returns to host the defending 2018 WNBA champion Seattle Storm for an action-packed opening night at Wintrust Arena on Saturday, June 1. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
"There's no better way to measure ourselves right away than to start off against the Lynx, the 2017 WNBA champions, on the road and then come home, get even better, and welcome the 2018 WNBA champions," Wade said. "It will be great basketball for our fans to watch. To say I'm excited for our 2019 season would be an understatement."
Highlights of the Sky's 2019 regular season schedule, which runs from May 25 to Sept. 8, include:
Of the 34-game schedule, 17 games will be on the team's home court of Wintrust Arena, with 17 on the road.
Chicago will play each team in the league three times, except for Washington Mystics, which they face four times.
Eleven of the 17 home games are weekend matchups; including four Fridays, one Saturday, and six Sunday dates.
The Sky hosts two matinee games at 11 a.m.; Wednesday, June 26 vs. Washington and Wednesday, July 17 vs. Atlanta.
Chicago's longest homestands span three games each; June 21 to June 26 when the Sky hosts Indiana, Connecticut, and Washington, and July 7 to July 12 welcoming Dallas, Minnesota and New York.
The longest road trip is three games, visiting Seattle, Los Angeles and Las Vegas from June 28 to July 2.
Chicago closes out the regular season in Washington against the Mystics for their fourth matchup on Sunday, Sept. 8.
