Chicago Sky News Release
CHICAGO - The Chicago Sky announced today that the team has acquired forward Rebecca Allen from the Connecticut Sun in exchange for Lindsay Allen and the rights to Nikolina Milić. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"We want to first thank Lindsay for everything she did in Chicago for us last season," Sky General Manager Jeff Pagliocca said. "She stepped up into a starting role and always went the extra mile to contribute, on and off the court. We wish her the best in her next chapter."
A native of Melbourne, Australia, she recently spent the 2024 season with Phoenix, but missed 22 games due to injury. Prior to her time with the Mercury, Allen spent one season with Connecticut in 2023, appearing in all 40 games (27 starts). She averaged 6.4 points and 2.8 rebounds in 21.5 minutes for the Sun. During that season, Allen became the 10th fastest player in WNBA history to record at least 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, 150 blocks and 180 three-point field goals (195 games).
She spent the first seven years of her career with New York from 2015-19 and 2021-22. With the Liberty, she appeared in 158 games (40 starts), averaging 5.7 points and 2.7 rebounds while shooting 36.3% from three.
In 2022, she finished as one of three players in the league to average 2.8+ steals and blocks per game, along with Sylvia Fowles and Breanna Stewart.
Prior to joining the WNBA, the 6-2 forward started her professional career in Australia's WNBL at the age of 16. She has also been a member of the Australian National Team since 2014, competing with the Opals in the FIBA Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament in 2024, the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and won bronze in the FIBA Women's World Cup in 2022.
"Bec is a versatile wing and a legitimate two-way player," Pagliocca said. "She has terrific length and is a proven threat from beyond the arc in our league. We cannot wait to welcome Bec to Skytown."
Lindsay Allen appeared in all 40 of the Sky's regular season games in 2024, starting in a career-high 28 of them. She averaged 6.6 points, 3.9 assists and 2.0 rebounds with the Sky and averaged 7.4 points and 4.6 assists as a starter.
The Sky acquired Milić as part of an exchange with Minnesota in 2024 where Chicago received the 7th overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft.
