
Chicago Fire FC Falls 1-0 to D.C. United at Audi Field

Washington, D.C. - Chicago Fire FC (0-4-1, 1 point) fell 1-0 to D.C. United (2-3-0, 6 points) at Audi Field on Thursday night.
Despite conceding a seventh minute goal to midfielder Edison Flores, the Fire outshot (15-10) and out-possessed (57.6% - 42.4%) D.C. throughout the match. Chicago native Brian Gutiérrez came close to leveling the score for the Fire on two occasions, forcing a difficult save in the 32nd minute (WATCH) before hitting the post five minutes later (WATCH ). Additionally, the Fire nearly provided some late-game dramatics when second-half substitute Fabian Herbers flicked a header that struck the crossbar in the 92nd minute (WATCH).
NEXT GAME: Chicago Fire FC will return home to face Inter Miami CF on Saturday, May 22 at Soldier Field. The match will begin at 5:00 p.m. CT and will be broadcast nationally on UniMás and Twitter and locally on WOJO 105.1FM HD-3.
Tickets for the match against Inter Miami and the Club's following home game on May 29 (CF Montreal, 12:00 p.m. CT) are currently on sale.

NOTES:
Gutiérrez became the youngest Homegrown Player and the third-youngest player overall in Club history to start an MLS match for the Fire at 17 years and 331 days. "Guti" was named Man of the Match.
Homegrown midfielder Javier Casas Jr. made his first career MLS appearance in tonight's match, coming on for midfielder Gastón Giménez at halftime. Casas Jr. is the second-youngest Homegrown Player and fourth-youngest player overall to appear in a match for the Fire (17 years, 364 days).
Defender Miguel Navarro started his first game of the 2021 season. Navarro has made a total of 22 appearances (11 starts) for the Fire since 2020, including two previous substitute appearances this season.
Herbers made his first appearance of the 2021 season after missing the previous four games due to injury.
