
Cheverie Records First Shutout of the Season against the Grizzlies 2-0

LOVELAND, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles (31-21-7-4) scored two third period goals to shut out the Utah Grizzlies (33-22-3-5) 2-0 on Wednesday evening at the Budweiser Events Center. With tonight's win the Eagles are just one point behind Utah for 3rd place in the Western Conference standings. Grizzlies goalie Igor Bobkov stopped all but one of the shots that the Eagles threw at him, while Eagles netminder Marc Cheverie shutdown all 20 of Utah's shots-on-goal for his first shutout of the season.
The first goal did not come until 5:24 into the third frame as Eagles forward A.J. Hau stuffed home his first goal of the season on a rebound from fellow forward Alex Hudson to give the Eagles the late 1-0 advantage. With just 5.7 seconds remaining Eagles forward Jesse Mychan tore down the ice on a breakaway to score on the Grizzlies abandoned net for the 2-0 win. Colorado held Utah to an 0-4 mark on the power play, while the Eagles went 0-3 on the man-advantage. A strong defensive effort by the Eagles held Utah to just 20 shots in the game highlighted by Colorado holding Utah to just two shots in the second period.
The Eagles go head-to-head with the Grizzlies again on Friday and Saturday at the Budweiser Events Center.
