Checkers Recall Tyler Ganly from ECHL Florida

CHARLOTTE, NC - The Charlotte Checkers today announced that they have recalled defenseman Tyler Ganly from the ECHL's Florida Everblades.

Ganly, 20, recorded one assist and two penalty minutes in 15 games with the Everblades since joining them on Dec. 8. The Carolina Hurricanes' sixth-round draft pick in 2013 began the season in Charlotte, posting one assist in his first six games as a professional prior to joining Florida.

A 6-foot-2, 204-pound rookie from Mississauga, Ontario, Ganly recently completed a three-year OHL career with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds, where he recorded 54 points (5g, 49a) and 159 penalty minutes in 167 games while playing alongside Checkers forward Sergey Tolchinsky.

The Checkers return to action for a pair of games against the Chicago Wolves this Friday and Saturday that conclude a six-game home stand. Please note that Friday's game has moved from 8 p.m. to its new start time of 7 p.m.
