Checkers Forward Schepke Loaned To Wolf Pack

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League have called-up Checkers forward Matt Schepke and signed him to a Professional Tryout (PTO) contract.

Schepke, 5-foot-9, 196 pounds, signed with the Checkers after completing his third season with Michigan State University where he won a national championship in his first year in the program. During the 12 games he has spent with the Checkers this season, Schepke has scored six goals and three assists for nine points with 23 penalty minutes. Schepke was the Spartan's leading scorer this season with 14 goals and 10 assists for 24 points with 67 penalty minutes. This will mark Schepke's first call-up in his professional career.

The Checkers play their first two playoff games at The Extreme Ice Center in Indian Trail, N.C. against the South Carolina Stingrays on Thursday April 9 and Saturday April 11. Both games start at 7:00 p.m. and are presented by Bud Light.

The Checkers are playing their 16th season of play as a member of the ECHL. In the team's 16-year history, the Checkers have made the playoffs 12 times including five consecutive playoff appearances to date.
