
Checkers Finish Tough Stretch at 7-3-1

FRIDAY'S PREVIEW: The Checkers take on the Columbia Inferno for the second time in the five-game season series. Charlotte is 0-1-0 versus the Inferno after a 7-1 loss on November 19 at Columbia. The Checkers have two games at home in the season series while Columbia has three. Center Rejean Stringer leads the Inferno in every offensive category with 20g, 33a, for 53 points. Columbia enters this week tied for third place in the Southeast Division with a record of 22-15-1 for 45 points. All-time the Checkers are 2-4-0 against the Inferno.
SATURDAY'S PREVIEW: The Checkers will close out the four-game season series against the Augusta Lynx at Cricket Arena. Charlotte is 3-0-0 against Augusta this season with a 5-2 win and 5-4 SO triumph in Georgia, and a 4-3 win last Friday in Charlotte. After Augusta's loss to the Checkers last Friday, the Lynx promptly went back home and knocked off first place Florida twice in convincing fashion on consecutive nights, 5-1 and 9-5. All-time the Checkers are 35-25-6 against the Lynx. (including when the franchise was in Raleigh)
SUNDAY'S PREVIEW: Charlotte will close out a short three-game season series with the Pee Dee Pride Sunday afternoon in Florence. The Checkers are 1-1-0 against the Pride so far this season. The Pride came from behind to beat the Checkers 6-4 on November 23 at Cricket Arena. Charlotte came back to win the next game in Florence on Dec 8, a 4-3 overtime win. Pee Dee enters this week in first place in the Southeast Division with a record of 23-11-5 for 51 points. Center Matt Reid leads the Pride in scoring with 19g, 34a, for 54 points.
CHECKERS RECENT MOVES AND TRANSACTIONS:

NEWS AND NOTES:
The Checkers just finished a stretch of 11 games in 17 days, seven games in nine days, four games in five days and three games in three days. The club went 7-3-1 during that stretch.
Charlotte is 7-2-1 in last ten games.
ALLAN EGELAND has a nine-game point streak alive, going 4g, 9a for 13 points in that span. The club high for a point streak this season belongs to Eddie Pershin's at 11 games.
EGELAND and EDDIE PERSHIN have been alternating as the club's scoring leader the past few weeks. Pershin gets the nod starting this week with 37 points, two ahead of Egeland at 35.
DAVE INMAN and KONRAD MCKAY have three-game goal scoring streaks alive...Inman (4) and McKay (4).
Defenseman CHAD WILCHYNSKI has a six-game point scoring streak alive, going 1g, 8a for 9 points in that span.
DAVE INMAN has scored at least a point in 12 of his 15 games with the Checkers, with 12g, 7a, for 19 points.
Center DAVID EVANS became the Checkers second player this season to score a hat trick, helping Charlotte to an 8-1 win over Greensboro last Thursday. TAKAHITO SUZUKI has the other Checkers hat trick.
Goalie SCOTT MEYER will return to the lineup this week after missing two games last week with a minor injury.
