CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Hamilton Bulldogs (3-4-2-0) fell 2-1 to the Charlotte Checkers (3-6-0-0) at Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte, N.C. on Sunday afternoon in a heated match that featured five fights and 98 penalty minutes assessed.
After a scoreless opening frame, Charlotte forward Greg Nemisz opened the scoring at 1:47 of the second period, with assists from forwards Patrick Brown and Phil Di Giuseppe.
The 'Dogs tied it up just over three minutes into the third period on a strange bounce off the back boards that required video review. Forward Christian Thomas was credited with his fourth goal of the season on the play, with assists from defenceman Mac Bennett and forward Charles Hudon.
Nemisz added his second goal of the game and the game winner on the power play at 9:08 of the third period, assisted by defenceman Ryan Murphy and forward Alex Aleardi.
Mike Condon made 31 saves on 33 shots for the Bulldogs in the loss, while Drew MacIntyre stopped 24 of 25 shots faced for the Checkers in the win.
Hamilton went 0-for-4 on the power play, while Charlotte was 1-for-6 with a man advantage.

The Bulldogs return to action on Tuesday, Nov. 4 when they'll host the Rochester Americans at FirstOntario Centre at 10:15 a.m.
