Oklahoma City Barons News Release
Eleven different players figured in the scoring for Oklahoma City as the Barons downed the Iowa Wild 4-2 Sunday at the Cox Convention Center.
Each of the Barons four goals and seven assists were credited to different players as the Barons extended their streak of scoring four or more goals to six consecutive games.
The Barons got on the scoreboard halfway through the first period when Andrew Miller was able to nudge the puck through a pile-up of players in the Iowa crease and into the Wild net to give Oklahoma City a 1-0 lead. The goal came on a Barons power play opportunity with Iowa's Kevin Walters serving a 2:00 minor for hooking.
At 16:28 of the first, Iowa tied the score at one when Zach Phillips rebounded a Walters shot just in front of the Barons net and chipped the puck past Oklahoma City net minder Richard Bachman.
Oklahoma City regained its lead at the 17:53 mark of the first when Jason Williams deflected a David Musil shot from just beyond the right circle, redirecting the puck under the pads of Wild goalie Johan Gustafsson.
Jordan Oesterle gave the Barons a 3-1 advantage at 6:32 of the second period, scoring on a shot from just beyond the right circle that sailed above the glove of Gustafsson.
With 1:20 left in the second, C.J. Ludwig put the Barons up by a score 4-1 when he sent a slap shot from the point that got through an Anton Lander screen and past Gustafsson. Ludwig's goal was the first professional goal of his career.
Iowa tightened the deficit in the third period, scoring the only goal of the frame when Michael Keranen muscled the rebound of a Kurtis Gabriel shot past Bachman at 5:42 that made the score 4-2.
The Barons are back in action Saturday, Nov. 8, when they face the Toronto Marlies in a 7 p.m. start at the Cox Convention Center.
