Charlotte, NC - Chris Holt stopped 27 shots in net for the Charlotte Checkers as they blanked the Augusta Lynx 2-0 Tuesday night at the Charlotte Bobcats Arena.
After a scoreless first period, Charlotte would notch the only two goals of the game in the middle frame. Both goals came on rebound chances in front of the Lynx net, with Dan Murphy scoring at 2:33 followed by a Nathan Gillies marker at 7:29.
From there the Checkers slowed the game down in the third, allowing Augusta just five shots on goal over the final 20 minutes to ensure the shutout.
Augusta finished the game 0-for-4 on the power play while Charlotte ended 0-for-3.
The Lynx get back to action against the Columbia Inferno Friday night at 7:05 pm, with radio coverage beginning one half-hour before game time on your Home for Lynx Hockey, NEWSTALKSPORTS 1630.
