Rookie Defenseman Coulombe assigned to Victoria

Victoria, BC- The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today that rookie Defenseman Patrick Coulombe has been assigned to the Victoria Salmon Kings by the Manitoba Moose.

Coulombe, 21, has appeared in 41 games this season with the Moose and tallied nine points (3 goals, 6 assists) and 16 penalty minutes. The 5-foot-9, 163-pound native of St. Fabien, PQ also spent time in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Vancouver Canucks this season. In seven games he posted an assist and four penalty minutes.

Before turning pro, Coulombe played five seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) with the Rimouski Océanic and Chicoutimi Saguenéens. Starting in 2001, in 264 games with Rimouski, he earned 180 points (26 goals, 154 assists) and in the second half of 2005-06, he notched 49 points (18 goals, 31 assists) in just 33 games with Chicoutimi. In his complete junior career, Coulombe collected 39 points (4 goals, 35 assists) in 38 playoff games.

Coulombe joins the Salmon Kings in Stockton as they continue their final California trip of the regular season. Victoria defeated Fresno in both games of the series last week in the first half of the trip.
