Charlotte Checkers News Release
CHARLOTTE, NC â The ECHL announced today that Charlotte left wing Dusty Jamieson has been selected as the ECHL Player of the Week for February 7-13.
The 23-year-old Jamieson scored eight points (7g-1a) and helped Charlotte go 3-1-1 for the week. After scoring two goals and adding an assist in a 7-3 win against Pee Dee on Wednesday, the 6-2 and 195-pound Jamieson scored a hat trick, including the game-winning goal, in a 5-4 win against Gwinnett on Friday. He closed out the week with two goals in the Checkers' 6-4 loss at Augusta on Sunday.
Selected in the fifth round (136th overall) by Montreal in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, Jamieson leads the Checkers in goals with 20 and ranks third on the team with 36 points (20g-16a) in 35 games. Jamieson has eight multiple-point games, but had not scored more than one goal in a game until recording three multiple-goal games last week.
The Forest, Ontario native began his professional career in Charlotte in 2002-03, scoring 45 points (27g-18a) in 50 games. Jamieson returned to the Checkers in 2003-04 and scored 46 points (24g-22a) in 59 games. He was named as a replacement player for the 2004 ECHL All-Star Game, scoring a goal and adding an assist to help the Eastern Conference win 7-6. He also played six games with Hartford of the American Hockey League in 2003-04.
On behalf of Dusty Jamieson, a case of pucks will be donated to a Charlotte area youth hockey organization by In Glas Co, the exclusive puck supplier for the ECHL. In Glas Co has donated over 10,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities since it began sponsoring the award in 2000-01.
