
Charge Step on Mad Ants for 114-102 Victory

The Canton Charge (25-14), presented by SecureData 365 and powered by the Cleveland Cavaliers, defeated the Fort Wayne Mad Ants (17-22), 114-102, Saturday afternoon at the Canton Memorial Civic Center. The win extends the Charge's Central Division winning streak to 10 games.
The Charge raced ahead to a 32-25 lead after the opening period thanks in part to Atlanta Hawks assignment Lamar Patterson accounting for 25 points, 13 through scoring and 12 on five first quarter assists. Canton assisted 10 times on 13-of-20 field goals (65%) in the first quarter.
Fort Wayne began the second on a 9-2 run in the first 2:41 to pull within a point at 34-33. Canton then immediately responded with a 15-3 run of their own for their largest lead of the game at 49-36. The Charge stayed ahead for the entire second quarter and held a 59-48 advantage at intermission.
The Charge remained in control of the game during the second half until a C.J. Fair jumper gave the Mad Ants their first lead of the game at 89-88 with 9:18 remaining in the fourth quarter. A Lamar Patterson jumper with just over seven minutes remaining gave the lead back to Canton at 92-91, with the Charge never relinquishing the lead and finishing the game on a 24-11 run.
The Charge's defense led the way forcing 15 Fort Wayne turnovers resulting in 27 points and the visitors to 37% shooting from the field, including 33% from the three point line. Patterson finished with a game-high 25 points, six rebounds, and eight assists in his home debut for the Charge. Juvonte Reddic recorded his third double-double in the last six game with a season-high 24 points (10-of-14 shooting) and 11 rebounds in 34 minutes. Quinn Cook added 23 points on 8-of-12 shooting in 34 minutes. Nick Minnerath provided a boost off the bench with 18 points and four rebounds in 29 minutes.
Fort Wayne was led by John Lucas III's 21 points on 9-of-17 shooting in 32 minutes of action. Indiana Pacers assignment Shayne Whittington posted 10 points and five rebounds in 23 minutes. Stephan Hicks provided 18 points off the bench, including 9-of-12 from the free throw line.
