CANTON, OH - The Canton Charge (2-0), powered by the Cleveland Cavaliers, rolled past the Grand Rapids Drive (1-2), 121-105, at the Memorial Civic Center on Wednesday night.
After taking a 5-3 lead at the 10:34 mark in the first quarter, Canton never relinquished their advantage for the rest of the game. Levi Randolph scored 19 of his game-high 26 points in the first half, hitting 7-of-10 shots from the field and 4-of-5 from three-point range to help give the Charge a 60-54 advantage at the break. The hosts caught fire offensively in the third for 38 points on 12-of-19 shooting (63%) while forcing 13 turnovers in the quarter to take permanent control of the game.
Randolph netted his 26 on 9-of-15 attempts while dishing out five assists in 39 minutes. J.P. Macura turned in an all-around effort of 24 points, seven rebounds and five steals in 30 minutes. Sir'Dominic Pointer was a disrupting presence defensively, providing 11 points, four boards, five steals and two blocks in 26 minutes. Canton forced 29 Drive turnovers on the night resulting in 32 points. Malik Newman came off the bench to score 20 points on 6-of-10 shooting in 25 minutes.
Grand Rapids was led by Louis King's 19 points and eight rebounds in 30 minutes. Jordan Bone posted a double-double of 15 points and 12 assists in 34 minutes. On assignment from Detroit, Sekou Doumbouya scored 12 points and nabbed a pair of steals in 24 minutes.
