CAPS SEND ALZNER TO JUNIORS, BRUCE BACK TUESDAY
As mentioned here yesterday, the Caps did make a few roster moves by sending three players back to juniors, including 2007 first round pick Karl Alzner. I was a little surprised that Alzner went back to juniors as quickly as he did, because the reports I've heard about him said that the Caps brass really thought he had a good showing. He won't be in Hershey this season, but if he's not in Washington this time next year, we might see his services at GIANT Center. Seems like a pretty solid pick by GMGM this past June. Coach Boudreau will be making the trek back to Hershey today in preparations for camp here on Thursday morning. He along with Dan Stuck went with the Caps to Raleigh on Sunday for Washington's 4-3 loss to Carolina.
A couple of housekeeping items to get to today, including a change in e-mail coming from the club to you. We're in the process of switching over to a new e-mail system, which I think people are going to like. (You may already have noticed the new flash animation on the site, good stuff eh?) In the past when we've had pregame stories, postgame stories, and press releases, they've been e-mailed in text format to anyone who has signed up. Starting next week, when you get e-mail from the team, you'll notice new graphics and photos that will make them a heck of a lot easier to read. These new e-newsletters will give you great content and with a much better look. You won't be bombarded with 10 e-mails in a weekend anymore when the BEARS are busy, but all the news you're used to and want are available on HersheyBears.com, and via the RSS system. You can be notified whenever there is new information on the site, just like you can sign up for RSS to read this very blog. It's easy to do, and it won't clog up your inbox with the same scoops. All team press releases and game stories will be available via HersheyBears.com, and the latest news and notes from the team will be online via this blog. Make a note of it, and sign up today for RSS so you won't miss anything this season.
Also, if you are not aware (if you are aware, consider it a friendly reminder) that our Season Ticket Holder Kick-Off Night is on Thursday, October 4 from 6-9 PM here at GIANT Center. You'll be able to pick up your 2007-08 season tickets if your account is paid in full, you can skate with the players, take in a little food and drink and get a 30 percent discount in the team store. Skate rental is free, but you're encouraged to bring your own if you have them. I've been told that Coco will attend, along with characters from HERSHEYPARK and a DJ will also be spinning tunes. All in all, a good night out with the family to whet your appetite for the upcoming season. Should you feel inclined that night, you can stop by and see Bob Ancharski and help him find a new name for his blog. He'll be glad to hear from you.
