Manitoba Moose News Release
Today the Manitoba Moose Yearling Foundation is proud to donate $240,207 to 33 local children's charities. The funds were raised through Yearling Foundation events such as the Flatlander's Beer Festival, Yearling Foundation Gala Dinner, Ranger Insurance Charity Golf Classic, Silent Auctions and 50/50 raffle draws at all Manitoba Moose home games.
The Manitoba Moose Yearling Foundation was established in October 1996 as the charitable arm of the Manitoba Moose Hockey Club. The Yearling Foundation is a non-profit organization, which raises money year round to support a variety of registered children's charities in Manitoba. Since inception, the Yearling Foundation has raised and dispersed over 1.8 million dollars!
"It is with great pleasure that the Yearling Foundation gives back to the community," stated Executive Director Kelly McArthur. "It is important for the organization to be involved and we thank everyone who has supported the Foundation through our events over what has been a truly remarkable year."
One of the big highlights last season, was the annual Yearling Foundation Gala Dinner, which was held for the first time on ice level at the MTS Centre on February 28, 2007. The dinner was sold out with 770 in attendance, and guests were entertained by keynote speaker, Kelly Hrudey and Comedian, Brent Butt. The Yearling Foundation was proud to highlight all their 2006/07 Recipient Charities at the event, and over $40,000 was generated from that evening alone.
The Yearling Foundation operates under the direction of Executive Director, Kelly McArthur, in partnership with a volunteer Board of Directors headed by Chairperson George Sigurdson, Vice Chairperson Deb Kocen, and board members Kevin Neiles, Blake Fitzpatrick, Mark Strople, Kevin Moore, Robert Thorsten, Joanne Harder, Brian Lerner, Laurie Finley, Norva Riddell and Rod Woodcock.
