Published on September 18, 2007 under American Hockey League (AHL) News Release
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. ... American Hockey League President and CEO David Andrews announced today that AJ Atchue has been named Coordinator of Communications for the AHL.
Atchue will be responsible for assisting AHL vice president of communications Jason Chaimovitch in the day-to-day public and media relations, internet services, publications and other communications efforts of the league.
The Paxton, Mass., native comes to the league office following one season with the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack as a game night supervisor, responsible for the compilation and distribution of game notes and materials to various media members, as well as overseeing press box operations. Prior to the Wolf Pack, Atchue spent eight seasons as a part-time public relations and game night assistant with the Worcester IceCats.
Atchue completed his undergraduate work at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Conn., where he received a Bachelor of Arts in broadcast journalism and a minor in political science.
In operation since 1936, the AHL continues to serve as the top development league for all 30 National Hockey League teams. More than 83 percent of today's NHL players are American Hockey League graduates, and for the sixth year in a row, more than 6 million fans attended AHL games across North America in 2006-07.
