Boston Assigns Five Players to P-Bruins

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins, member of the American Hockey League, announced that the Boston Bruins have assigned the first five players to the P-Bruins' training camp, which begins on September 22 at 11:20a.m at the Rhode Island Sports Center, Rte. 146, North Smithfield, RI. Training camp is open to the public. The group of five includes forwards Chris Collins, Reid Jorgensen and Jamison Orr, defenseman Daryl Boyle and goaltender Mike Brown.

Boyle, 20, has spent the past three seasons with the Brandon Wheat Kings of the Western Hockey League (WHL). In three season, the 6'1", 191 lb. defenseman had 90 points (21g, 69a) and 164 PIM in 201 games. Boyle had season highs last season with 49 points (11g, 38a) and during the 2005-06 season led all defenseman on his team in scoring with 29 points (7g, 22a) in 72 games.

Brown, 22, begins his third professional season following a game in Providence last season and much of 2006-07 spent in the ECHL with the Long Beach Ice Dogs. With the P-Bruins, the goalie from Baldwinsville, New York, saw a period of scoreless action stopping all 11 shots he faced. With Long Beach, the 6'0", 203 lb. goaltender went 15-21-2 with a 3.26 GAA in 43 games played. During the 2005-06 season Brown saw action with Providence and in the ECHL with the South Carolina Stingrays and Dayton Bombers. In a pair of games with the P-Bruins he played 42 minutes while blocking 11 of 13 shots for a 2.87 goals-against-average and not receiving a decision. In the ECHL, the goalie played in 21 contests, finishing with a 4-13-4 record and a 3.83 GAA. Brown was selected by Boston 153rd overall (fifth round) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.

Collins, 23, an undrafted signing by Boston in 2006, split the 2006-07 season between Providence and Long Beach. With the P-Bruins the 5'10", 181 lb. left wing had two goals and 12 PIM in 17 games. With the Ice Dogs he tallied 37 points (18g, 19a) and 79 PIM in 51 games, finishing seventh on the team in scoring. Collins is a four-year product of Boston College. While playing for the Eagles, the Fairport, New York, native tallied 122 points (63g, 59a) in 162 collegiate games. In his senior season, the left wing posted career-highs with 34 goals and 29 assists en route to leading the Hockey East in scoring and being named one of three finalists for the Hobey Baker Award. Along the way, Collins was named the Hockey East's Player of the Year, a member of the All-Star First Team and a NCAA East All-American.

Jorgensen, 21, has spent the past five seasons with the Kamloops Blazers (WHL). In his junior career, the 5'10", 183 lb. center recorded 175 points (99g, 76a) and 235 PIM in 297 games. During both the 2005-06 season and the 2006-07 season Jorgensen finished fourth on his team in score with 68 points (39g, 29a) last season and 43 points (24g, 19a) the season prior. He was a twenty goal scorer in his last three junior seasons.

Orr, 21, begins his second professional season after spending the 2006-07 season with the Bloomington PrairieThunder of the United Hockey League (UHL). In ten games the 6'3", 220 lb. left wing had three assists and eight PIM. During his WHL junior career, Orr spent four seasons with six different clubs. In 96 WHL games Orr tallied seven points (4g, 3a) and 215 PIM. Jamison is the younger brother of former P-Bruins Colton Orr.
