Hamilton Tiger-Cats News Release
The Canadian Football League today announced the team nominees for the Rogers AT & T CFL Player Awards with rookie fullback JULIAN RADLEIN and defensive end TIM CHEATWOOD each nominated in two categories.
In this first ballot, team nominees were selected by 45 voting members of the Football Reporters of Canada (five FRC representatives from each CFL city submitted votes for their respective teams) with each voter being asked to select players from their local club whom they believed to be the most deserving of each of the 6 awards.
Radlein was a unanimous choice in both the Rookie and Canadian player categories. Radlein, who leads the Tiger-Cats in touchdowns this season with a total of 7, was Hamilton's 1st round pick in the 2003 Canadian College Draft. The UBC product has carried the ball 53 times this season for a total of 153 yards. He has also caught 20 passes for 169 yards.
Cheatwood, who is in his second season with the âCats, was selected as the team's nominee for Outstanding player and as Outstanding Defensive player. The import from Ohio State has enjoyed a stellar season on defence registering a team-high total of 9 quarterback sacks, good for 4th place overall in the CFL standings in addition to his 57 defensive tackles.
Also receiving Player Award nominations for the Tiger-Cats were 7 year veteran tackle DAVE HACK, as Outstanding Lineman and rookie return specialist CRAIG YEAST as Outstanding Special Teams player.
A total of 45 Canadian Football League Players were honoured in Round 1 of voting!
