
Cedar Rapids defeats Storm, 5-3

KEARNEY - The Tri-City Storm of the United States Hockey League dropped their second game at the Buc Bowl tournament on Friday falling 5-3 to the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders. The Storm will complete Buc Bowl play on Saturday with a 10:30 a.m. game against the Ohio Junior Blue Jackets at Buccaneer Arena.
Storm forward Michael Pilot scored his second goal of the tournament in the first period as the two teams skated to a 1-1 tie through 20 minutes. Cedar Rapids scored three goals to build a 4-1 lead, but Tri-City fought back with goals from Andrew Sackrison and Jesse Martin to make the score 4-3 late in the third period. A Cedar Rapids goal with two minutes remaining would seal the victory for the RoughRiders.
Special teams played a big role in Friday's game. Tri-City was 1-for-4 on the power play while Cedar Rapids was 2-for-10 and also scored a shorthanded goal.
