New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release

Manchester, NH- Nick Gorneault lined a two-out RBI single in the bottom of the tenth inning to give the New Hampshire Fisher Cats a dramatic 5-4 walk-off victory over the Trenton Thunder at Merchantsauto.com Stadium on Monday night. The Fisher Cats won for the first time in eight extra-inning games this season and stretched their winning streak to three games, the first time they've won three in a row at home since the first three games of the season, April 8-10.

Trailing 4-3 in the tenth, Luis Sanchez (2-for-3, BB, 2 R) led off with a single off Jose Valdez. Darin Mastroianni (1-for-3, BB, R, SB) reached on a sac bunt when third baseman Marcos Vechionacci bobbled the ball. Scott Campbell (0-for-3, BB, SAC, SB) sacrificed both runners over, and Brad Emaus (1-for-3, SF, RBI, R) tied the game with a sac fly to right.

After Valdez intentionally walked David Cooper (1-for-3, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 BB), Gorneault (1-for-4, RBI, BB) ripped a liner over left fielder James Cooper's head for his second walk-off single of the season, making a winner of Zach Dials.

Dials (1-1) allowed one run on one hit in 1.1 innings, fanning one and overcoming the solo homer he yielded to Jesus Montero (2-for-4, HR, RBI, BB), his seventh, in the top of the tenth, which temporarily gave Trenton (47-47) a 4-3 lead.

Valdez (0-1) suffered his first loss and second blown save by giving up two runs on three hits in two-thirds of an inning.

The Thunder grabbed a 1-0 lead when Austin Krum (1-for-5, HR) ripped his first career Double-A home run off Kenny Rodriguez in the top of the fifth inning.

New Hampshire (45-50) tied the game, 1-1, when Adam Calderone (1-for-4, HR) broke up a no-hit bid with one out in the bottom of the seventh by delivering his 10th homer of the season off Eric Wordekemper.

The Thunder reclaimed the advantage in the top of the eighth against reliever Matt Hensley, who was making his New Hampshire debut. Reegie Corona (2-for-3, 2 BB, R) and Eduardo Nunez (1-for-5, R) hit back-to-back singles to start the inning. One out later, following an intentional walk to Montero, Chris Malec (2-for-5, RBI) grounded into a run-scoring fielder's choice off Edgar Estanga, scoring Corona. Attempting to complete the double play, Emaus's throw to first went wide of the bag, allowing Nunez to score an unearned run, giving the Thunder a 3-1 lead.

The Fisher Cats successfully erased that deficit in the bottom of the eighth against Wilkins Arias when Cooper crushed a two-out, two-run double off the right-centerfield wall, plating Sanchez and Emaus, who both singled, tying the game 3-3.
