Gary SouthShore Railcats News Release

Down 4-1 with two outs in the eighth, the Gary SouthShore RailCats put together a three-run rally to tie the game Friday against the Sioux Falls Canaries.

Again, trailing 6-5 with two down in the 11th inning, J.D. Pulfer roped a two-out double to left-center field to re-tie the game, but a third rally fell short in the 12th and the Canaries took game one 7-6 in front of a season-high 5,625 fans at the U.S. Steel Yard.

After falling behind by one in the third, the RailCats (21-25) tied the game in the fourth, but a three-run fifth made it 4-1.

That's where the game stayed until Jon Jones and Michael Vaughn hit back-to-back two-out doubles to tie the game.

With two outs in the 11th, the Canaries (21-26) put two runs across on a Chris Grayson triple, but Pulfer's double put the game back at a stalemate.

In the 12th, Vikash Ramjit hit a game-winning single, and the 'Cats couldn't capitalize in the bottom half, dropping their third straight and eighth of their last 10.

Sioux Falls starter ,and former RailCat, Stephen Bougher (3-1) pitched lights out in his return to the U.S. Steel Yard, going seven innings and giving up only one unearned run on four hits while striking out three.

Gary SouthShore starter Fernando Gonzalez (0-0) gave up one run on four hits and four strikeouts in four innings in his professional debut.

The 'Cats and Canaries square off again Saturday as ace Charle Rosario (7-3) gets the nod for the home team vs. righty Jeremy Strawn (2-5) for Sioux Falls.
