Ace Rosario Steadies Reeling 'Cats

Gary SouthShore Railcats News Release

With the Gary SouthShore RailCats again stumbling from three straight losses, ace starting pitcher Charle Rosario put the team on his back, throwing 7.2 innings of shutout baseball and leading the team to a 4-1 victory over the Sioux Falls Canaries Saturday at the U.S. Steel Yard.

After Rosario struck out the side 1-2-3 in the first inning, the RailCats (22-25) gave him a lead in the bottom of the second after a Michael Schroeder leadoff double and Ryan Brockett single made it 2-0.

The 'Cats added insurance runs in the sixth and eighth, but it wasn't necessary as Rosario cruised through his 7.2 innings, allowing only four hits with four strikeouts.

The Canaries (21-27) added a run in the ninth to make it 4-1, but Chuck Fontana shut it down to give Gary SouthShore its second win in its last 10 games.

Rosario has now thrown 22.2 innings in a row without allowing a run, dating back to his June 28 start against Lincoln.

The 'Cats and Canaries play game three of the four-game series on a Sunday Funday at the U.S. Steel Yard, with a first pitch time of 2:10 p.m.
