
Cats Top St. Paul 5-3, Win Series

Isa Garcia was 2-for-2 with two runs batted in as the Cats defeated St. Paul 5-3 on Thursday night at LaGrave Field.
With the win, the Cats took 2-of-3 from the Saints in the series and improved their overall record to 36-21.
The Cats jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the second. Pat O'Sullivan and Ryan Patterson started the inning with consecutive singles. One out later, Garcia doubled to left, scoring both runners for a 2-0 advantage. Later in the frame, Brian Fryer and Cameron Blair each delivered run-scoring doubles for a 4-0 lead.
St. Paul rallied with a run in the third on a Jason Cooper RBI single. They scored twice more to make it 4-3 in the fifth on an RBI fielder's choice by Andrew Schmiesing and an RBI single by Jeff Eure.
But Patterson singled home John Allen in the bottom of the fifth inning to put the Cats back up by two at 5-3.
Cats' starter Ryan Trytten allowed three runs on seven hits in 4 2/3 innings and received no decision. Nat Harris earned the win in his Cats' debut as he went 2 1/3 innings and allowed no runs and no hits. Tyler Pearson worked a scoreless eighth before Gary Lee notched his fifth save with a 1-2-3 ninth inning.
Brandon Kintzler dropped to 8-3 with the loss as he gave up five runs on 11 hits in six innings pitched.
The Cats continue their home stand on Friday night with the opener of the three-game series with El Paso. Joel Kirsten pitches for Fort Worth and will be opposed by Cardoza Tucker for the Diablos. Game time Friday night is at 7:05 p.m.
