The Wildcats had to dig down deep to take Game #1 of their First Round Playoff series against the Baie Comeau Drakkar.

Jonas Taibel tipped in a Trent Ballentyne wrist shot at 4:35 of overtime to take a 1-0 series lead at the Avenir Centre.

The Cats found themselves trailing 3-1 early in the second period but fought back to tie the contest on Alex Mercier's 2nd of the night and a powerplay blast from Yoan Loshing. That set the stage for Taibel's winner after a scoreless third period.

Second Star Charles Beaudoin was a key to the victory, setting up three goals. Etienne Morin and Miles Müller also contributed two assists each. Jacob Steinman was sharp, making 35 saves. Moncton countered with 33 shots at Baie Comeau's Olivier Ciarlo.

Game 2 is Saturday night at Avenir Centre at 7pm before moving to Baie Comeau Tuesday & Wednesday for Games 3 & 4, and possibly game 5 on Friday night.
