2023 Awards Began Tonight in the QMJHL

Quebec Remparts, receive Jean-Rougeau Trophy

Montreal, QC - With the conclusion of the 2022-23 regular season last Saturday, the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League began its awards season tonight by handing out a few collective and individual trophies.
First, the regular season champions, the Quebec Remparts, received the Jean-Rougeau Trophy from the hands of QMJHL Director of Hockey Operations Pierre Leduc ahead of their first playoff game. They were crowned as regular season champions for the second consecutive year thanks to an impressive 53-12-1-2 record, finishing atop the overall standings with 109 points, a five-point jump from last season, while edging out the Halifax Mooseheads (50-11-4-3) by just two points.
A second team award was presented to the organization. The Robert-Lebel Trophy, awarded annually to the team with the best goals-against average, was also presented to the Quebec Remparts. Quebec City finished the season with a 2.31 goals-against-average, once again improving its performance from the 2021-2022 season (2.56).
Finally, the Jacques-Plante Trophy, awarded annually to the goaltender who finishes the campaign with the best goals-against-average, was presented to Remparts netminder William Rousseau. The Trois-Rivières native finished the season with a 2.22 GAA, just ahead of Tigres goaltender Nathan Darveau who maintained a 2.34 average.
Mooseheads get their piece of the pie
The Halifax Mooseheads also received two awards before their first playoff home game. The Mooseheads were awarded the Luc-Robitaille Trophy after scoring the most goals of any team during the regular season. No squad found the back of the net more often than the Mooseheads did this past year, as the second-ranked team in the overall standings scored 335 goals in 68 games (an average of 4.87), 18 more than the Sherbrooke Phoenix.
Mooseheads star forward Jordan Dumais received the Jean-Beliveau Trophy, awarded annually to the league's top scorer. The Ile-Bizard, Quebec native was crowned champion of the regular season scoring race after netting 54 goals and adding 86 assists, good for 140 points in 64 games.
